Our no good, horrible, very first bad day of school.

How can it be possible?  This bunch now officially has a High School Senior, a 6th grader, and a Kindergartener!!!  Bub has been counting down the days for his first day of his last year of school, while Karley has been waiting very impatiently for Kindergarten to start.  She has actually been driving us all a little nuts since her 5th birthday.

Bub started on a Thursday and then Karley started the following Monday.  Thefirst day of school did not go as planned.  Actually it was a disaster for us.  We started out the day not getting Bub to the high school on time, thus missing his shuttle bus to his technical school that he attends.  Normally that wouldn't be such a big deal, but now that it is the first day of school for Karley and his school is about a half hour away, it became a big deal.  We dropped him off with a minute to spare and rushed back to put Karley on the bus (hopefully)!

Luckily, Karley had gotten dressed in her school clothes before we left to "drop" off Bub so she was already dressed and her backpack packed.  I was able to stop at the house just long enough to grab a brush, tangle spray, and her backpack.  Then off to the sitter's we go to wait for the bus.  She ran a comb thru her hair (if we can call it that) and ran to meet her friends.  The bus was running behind just long enough for Mommy to calm down from all of the shenanigans of the morning, but not enough to get any photos.  I was able to capture a few, but they are not very good quality.

I put my baby on the bus and I did not cry!  I would say this normally would be a win, but I think I was just too overwhelemed with the events of the morning and the fact that I was now over an hour late to work.  But here it is now sinking in...I. PUT. MY. BABY. on. THE. BUS. *tears*

Most normal people would be able to just post the wonderful first day of school photos here becuase that would be the end of the story.  Well, I guess we are not normal, because this is not where our story ends.  To add to the day we find out that a gun was found in a teenagers backpack at our son's school.  Thankfully no one was hurt, but in this age today it makes your stomach go in knots when you first hear the news.  Even after hearing that everything was okay, I don't think I actually felt okay about everything until I picked him up from school at the end of the day. Enter sigh of relief here.

Could this first day of school get any worse?  I'm thinking in my head that soon my baby will be getting off the bus and going to her sitter's.  I'm counting down the last few hours...minutes till I get off work and will be able to pick her up and she gets to tell me all about the very first best day of school.  It will take away from all of the very bad start to our day.  Boy, oh boy, was I ever W.R.O.N.G. on that one.  Instead, I get a call from my sitter asking if the school or the bus garage has called me?  Really, it is the very first day of school, why on earth would they call me?  Well incase you every get that call from you sitter asking you those questions here would be the reason.  THE SCHOOL LOST MY DAUGHTER!!!!!  When all of the other kids for the sitter got off the bus, Karley did not.  And even if the bus driver would of waited, she still wouldn't of because she was not on her bus.  *Insert meltdown for Mommy here*

After bawling my eyes in the Assistant Principal's office (I don't know that I can ever look that man in the eyes again) for about 10 minutes, trying to give him as much information as possible, my sitter called to say that she had been found!  Thank you, Jesus!!  Praise the Lord!!  Now let me haul a$$ out of here to go hug my daughter!!!!!!  I need something good to end this No good, horrible, very bad day.

We later came to the conclusion that either a teach or a parent volunteer that not check the tag on Karley's backpack and put her on the wrong bus.  She was lost riding on a bus for about 45 minutes when she was correctly taking to her original bus stop.  She was tired, but didn't really know any better so to her it wasn't that big of a deal, unless someone made it a big deal.

So the Byers' No good, horrible, very bad day turned into just another day that we were all thankful to get through.  At the end of the day we were all able to be together and get ready to take on the next day.  If we can get thru this, then we can get thru anything!  Right?!

Karley drew this self portrait during her Kindergarten screening.  She made it purple because "it's my Gimmy's favorite color."

After the screening we went to have a Mommy-Daughter date to get school clothes and supplies.  I guess the screening must of been tough because we didn't even make it to the mall and she was out.

Our H.S. Senior's first last day of school.

Not the first day of school.  This was for meet the teacher night.  She just had to have her "glasses" so she could see her teacher really good.  We learned this night that her teacher would be Mrs. Toy.

The actual first day of school.  She's getting on the bus.  She took of and didn't even hesitate.

When did my girl get so big!  I'm lucky I got these few shots of her.

Here was our 2nd day of Kindergarten.  I'm calling this the "Real First Day of Kindergarten".  I am claiming that the first day was just a trail.  I have to find the humor in all of the madness somehow.

*P.S. I do apologize in advance to Uncle Brian that this no good, horrible, very bad first day of school did not include any pooping of the pants.  Better luck with your future children.
